Details
Sophora flavescens contains about a dozen alkaloids including matrine, oxymatrine, sophocarpine, oxysophocarpine and sophoridine, while matrine and oxymatrine are the two major alkaloid components in there. When taken orally, much of the oxymatrine is converted to matrine.
Matrine is widely used to treat diseases such as viral hepatitis, cardiac arrhythmia and skin inflammations.
Molecular Structure:
Specification: 1) Matrine 98% HPLC; 2) Total matrines 80%
Characteristic: acicular crystal
Source: Root of Sophora flavescens Ait
Application: 1.Sophora and its alkaloids are commonly used in China for treatment of heart arrhythmias.
2. In relation to viral hepatitis, the sophora alkaloids appear to inhibit the viral replication, reduce destruction of liver cells, and protect against fibrosis. It has also been suggested that the alkaloids promote the flow of bile.
3. Sophora is frequently used in treatment of skin diseases, applied topically and consumed orally. One of the primary uses for topical therapy is treatment of vaginitis, particularly that due to candida infection.
4. Sophora total alkaloids or matrine could counteract arrhythmia induced by many causes, and the total alkaloids or oxymatrine could regulate heart contractility.
5. 0.3% matrine solution pesticide is used as a broad-spectrum long-acting pesticide in China market.
